The course sequence MAT 451 / 452 provides an introduction to groups, rings and fields.

Literature (among many other good books on the topic): David S. Dummit, Richard M. Foote: Abstract Algebra. John Wiley and Sons, 2004.

Software: GAP (Groups, Algorithms and Programming) -- a system for computational discrete algebra.
