Course Description
The course follows the book Ideals, Varieties, and Algorithms:
An Introduction to Computational Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra
by David Cox, John Little and Donal O'Shea.
Timetable
Tuesday and Thursday 14:00 - 15:30 in Room C 411.
Grading
Homework, midterm test and final test count 50%, 20% and 30% towards
the grade for the course, respectively. The homework grade is
10*(number of credits obtained)/(maximum possible number of credits),
rounded to the nearest integer.

Exercises are usually taken from the above book.
Homework is always due within one week.
- Due by October 27, 2009: Exercises 1.1.2 (6 credits), 1.1.3 (4 credits) and 1.1.4 (2 credits).
- Due by October 29, 2009: Exercise 1.1.5 (3 credits).
- Due by November 3, 2009: Exercises 1.2.1 (3 credits), 1.2.2 (2 credits) and 1.2.3 (2 credits).
- Due by November 5, 2009: Exercises 1.2.6 (2 credits), 1.2.11 (2 credits) and 1.2.11' (3 credits).
- Due by November 10, 2009: Exercises 1.3.1 (1 credit) and 1.3.3 (1 credit).
- Due by November 19, 2009: Exercises 1.4.1 (2 credits), 1.4.2 (1 credit) and 1.4.3 (3 credits).
- Due by December 8, 2009: Exercises 1.5.2 (3 credits), 1.5.8 (2 credits) and 1.5.9 (1 credit).
- Due by December 10, 2009: Exercises 2.1.1 (4 credits) and 2.1.3, Parts a. and b. (2 credits).
- Due by December 22, 2009: Exercises 2.2.1 (2 credits), 2.2.2 (2 credits) and 2.2.3 (2 credits).
- Due by January 19, 2010: Exercise 2.3.2 (slightly modified, 5 credits) and Exercise 2.4.3 (2 credits).
